Biography
Paul O'Neal
I was raised in Currituck County, educated in our school system and graduated from Currituck County High School in 1981. I am married to my wife Sharon, who has blessed me with three daughters, Paige, Rachel and Emily, we reside in Waterlily. I am employed as a commercial property and liability agent at Towne Insurance, an affiliate of TowneBank. At a very early age my parents showed through example that the community you live in is bigger than just yourself and that we all have a responsibility to give back in some way as they did through example, by working in our church and local organizations, I have tried to set the same example for my children.
I have served as your Commissioner from 1994 to 2006 and from 2008 to present, and currently serve on the following boards: Tourism, Economic Development, The College of the Albemarle, YMCA of Southampton Roads, and Historic Jarvisburg Colored School. The past boards I have served on include the following: Senior Center Advisory, Albemarle Hospital, Albemarle Commission, Corolla Wild Horse Fund, The Whalehead Preservation Trust, Albemarle Regional Solid Waste, Albemarle- Pamlico Economic Development Commission, and The First Flight Centennial Celebration.
During my tenure as your Commissioner, I have worked and been involved in the following community projects: Currituck County High School, Moyock Middle School, Jarvisburg Elementary, Shawboro Elementary, Health Department, Judicial Center, Agriculture Extension Center, Outer Banks and Mainland Water Plants, YMCA, Senior Center, Airport expansion and Terminal Building, Moyock Library, Corolla Library, Corolla Multi-use Paths, Maple Park, Knotts Island Park, Carova Park, Point Harbor Park, Whalehead Club Restoration, School Expansions at Knotts Island, Moyock, and Central Elementary Schools. New projects underway: Moyock Wastewater, College of the Albemarle Aviation and Technical Training Center, Maple Commercial Park, and promotion of the Buy Local Campaign to help local business.
It is an honor to serve you and I will continue to put the best interest of the County first and foremost in making decisions.
